Hello, my name is Wendy, I've just signed up and am looking forward to meeting and working with fellow collectors. I have a general question when shipping out of the country (i'm in the USA). If for example I were to mail a postcard to Europe, what is the best way to ensure the buyer has received it? I will be accepting Paypal and want to be protected and have proof the item was received. I sell online but am hesitant to sell outside the country since there is no "delivery confirmation" - does anyone have suggestions? They would be greatly appreciated! And again, greetings to all :pc_user:

What value are these postcards?
Why do you insist on delivery confirmation?
My suggestion is that you send by regular Airmail, - Any form of delivery confirmation is likely to cost much more than the occasional loss.
Most collectors are honest

Hi! Thanks for your answer - standard airmail would seem the way to go, I was just curious if anyone dealt with delivery confirmation, because with Paypal the one disadvantage is if you can't prove delivery and buyer says they never received it, they can file a complaint and get their money back, even if they have the item in their possession - you have no recourse - over on another major site this is known to happen - not my personal experience but it has happened to power sellers I know. And yes 99% are honest, that I do realize. Perhaps some of the other payment options would be better than PP. :)

Hello Again.
Yes, I am aware of the problem you mention with Paypal.
However I am using Paypal both here and on that other site you mention.
BTW, i am selling there as "oldjimmy"
I do not know of any "cross - frontier" system of payment so easy as PayP
I wish you luck on this site. Sales seem to be rather slow at present

Hi again, thanks for your words of encouragement and I agree, Paypal is a universally good tool to use. I will have to look you up on the other site. I am "carolinaobx" every place I sell, too confusing with too many names! I think sales are slow in general right now, perhaps vacations, parents with children getting ready to go back to school, etc - although online sales are a bit fickle, you just never know! I like the idea of this site as it is dedicated to particular products, not everything including the kitchen sink, so I hope it will attract lots of serious collectors. Off to inventory what I've got in my collection - nice chatting with you and have a great day :D Wendy

Just to confirm coinandstampman's response--I sell over half of my postcards to non-US buyers. I have been asked probably 3 times to ship with delivery confirmation (out of hundreds of sales both here and at the other site) and when I quoted the price (with a link to the USPS site) only one (a $100 sale to Turkey) insisted on the registration--and I agreed!

Welcome here!
